WEST LIBERTY, W.Va.  – The West Liberty University women's soccer team dropped a 3-2 decision to Ohio County rival Wheeling Jesuit Saturday afternoon at the West Liberty Soccer Complex.

The Cardinals (5-6-0, 4-3-0) got a quick goal from Jessie Vilkofsky but Keiana Palmer scored off an assist from Maci Hascak in the 16th minute to pull Coach Barry Christmas's Hilltoppers (2-7-1, 1-5-1) even in the early going.
Aubrey Hutchinson, who had assisted on Vilkofsky's goal, gave Wheeling Jesuit a 2-1 halftime lead when she finished off an assist from Erin Sheplavy in the 39th minute.
Hutchinson tacked on an insurance goal off another Sheplavy assist in the 73rd minute and it proved to be the difference maker. West Liberty's Janice Johnson converted a penalty kick in the 81st minute to pull the hosts back within striking range but the Hilltoppers couldn't come up with the equalizer in the final 9 minutes.
The visitors had a 13-8 edge in shots and a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks but the WLU netminding tandem of Hannah Judkins and Rachel Coles combined for 5 saves to keep the hosts in the game.
West Liberty hosts West Virginia Wesleyan on Wednesday in a 3:30 p.m. match.
