WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University women's tennis team knocked West Virginia Wesleyan from the ranks of the unbeaten in dominating fashion Thursday afternoon, romping to an 8-1 win at the Edgar Martin Tennis Complex.
    Coach Heather Gallagher's Hilltoppers (6-1, 4-1) jumped on the Bobcats (4-1, 3-1) right from the start, sweeping the three doubles matches by scores of 8-2, 8-2 and 8-0. The Black and Gold went on to complete the blowout with five straight-set wins in singles competition.
    Raissa Wischi, Raquel Cabero, Andrea Puga, Emily Dawson and Alex Barr claimed singles wins for the hosts. Wischi teamed up with Lauren Howard for the win at No. 1 doubles. Cabero and Barr combined for the nod at No. 2 doubles with Dawson and Christina Pauley pitching the shutout at No. 3 doubles.
    The West Liberty women close out the MEC regular-season on Oct. 11 when they host Concord in a 1 p.m. match.
