    FAIRMONT, W.Va. – The West Liberty University women's tennis team closed out its regular-season schedule in impressive fashion Saturday afternoon with a 9-0 romp at Fairmont State.
    The shutout win clinched second place in the final Mountain East Conference standings for Coach Heather Gallagher's Hilltoppers (9-1, 6-1), who will be the No. 2 seed when the inaugural MEC Tournament gets under way this weekend.
    West Liberty had no problem dominating the last-place Falcons (1-11, 0-7) on Saturday.
    After sweeping through the three doubles matches without losing a single game, the Hilltoppers finished off the shutout with six straight-set wins in singles play.
    Lauren Howard, Raissa Wischi, Raquel Cabero, Emily Dawson, Andrea Puga and Alex Barr were all winners in singles action.
    Howard and Wischi teamed up for the win at No. 1 doubles with Cabero and Barr (No. 2) and Dawson and Puga (No. 3) delivering doubles victories.
    The MEC Tournament opens Friday afternoon in Charleston.
