Hillary Southworth scored 20 of her career-high 30 points in the second half here Saturday afternoon to lift the West Liberty University women's basketball team to a 71-66 victory against Virginia Union on the final day of the Glenville State Classic.
There were 13 ties and 9 lead changes with neither team leading by more than 4 points until midway through the second half.

Lynn Ullom's Hilltoppers (1-1) went ahead to stay, 42-40, on a 3-pointer by senior post
Meghan Wiseman at 12:42 of the second half.
Southworth and
Jordan Stacey also chimed in with 3-pointers in an 11-1 West Liberty run that opened up a 50-41 Hilltopper margin just before the 10-minute mark.
West Liberty took its largest lead of the night, 61-47, on a pair of Wiseman free throws with 6:31 remaining but the Panthers (0-2) had one run left.
Virginia Union, the defending CIAA North Division champions, scored 17 of the next 21 points to trim the deficit to 65-64 with 2:31 remaining but Southworth answered with a driving layup and the Hilltoppers closed out the game at the charity stripe.
Southworth made 11-of-18 shots from the floor and 7-of-8 from the foul line in the first 30-point game of her career. She also tied for the team lead with 8 rebounds and handed out 3 assists. Wiseman joined Southworth in double figures with 13 points and added 7 rebounds.
Ashle Freeman and Parress Davis led four double-figure scorers for the Panthers with 15 and 14 points, respectively, while Melyse Brown had a game-high 12 rebounds in a losing cause.
The West Liberty women return to the court at 1 p.m. Friday when they take on St. Augustine's (N.C.) in the first game of the Wolf's Bus Lines Classic at Shippensburg (Pa.) University
