INSTITUTE, W.Va. – The West Liberty University women's tennis team's unbeaten run finally came to an end Friday afternoon with a 7-2 loss at undefeated West Virginia State.
    Coach Heather Gallagher's Hilltoppers (9-1, 7-1) dropped two of the three doubles matches to fall behind early and were unable to mount a rally in singles play as the host Yellowjackets (6-0, 5-0) prevailed in the meeting of the West Virginia Conference unbeatens.
    West Liberty's No. 1 doubles tandem of Lauren Howard and Raissa Wischi kept WLU in the match at the start with an 8-5 win in their match but Zineb Houssaini's straight-set romp at No. 5 singles was the only other Hilltopper victory on the day.
    The West Liberty women will try to get back on track Tuesday when they host defending WVIAC champion Charleston in a 3 p.m. match at the Edgar Martin Tennis Complex.
