SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The West Liberty baseball team's bats were stone cold at Slippery Rock on Saturday afternoon.
The Hilltoppers were held to just 3 hits on the day as The Rock swept a non-conference doubleheader by scores of 7-0 and 12-1.
Slippery Rock (12-8) led just 3-0 in the first game before breaking it open with four runs in the bottom of the sixth.
That was more than enough support for George Hebert, who struck out 9 West Liberty batters and issued 3 walks in a complete-game one-hit gem.
Josh Nagel spoiled Hebert's no-hit bid with a 2-out single to right field for the Hilltoppers (5-15) in the top of the second.
Slippery Rock took control of the second game from the start, bolting out to an 8-0 lead after the first two innings and coasting to the easy win.
Rudy Nagy had a single and double to account for West Liberty's only hits.
The Hilltoppers will try to warm up the offense on Sunday when they close out the weekend series against The Rock with a 1 p.m. twinbill.
