BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – The West Liberty University women's tennis team remained unbeaten in West Virginia Conference play on Thursday with a 7-2 romp past West Virginia Wesleyan at the Bobcats' home courts.
Coach
Heather Gallagher's Hilltoppers (6-2, 5-0) got off to a fast start by sweeping all three doubles matches and and posted straight-set wins at the top four singles slots to build the lop-sided final margin.
Lauren Howard,
Emma Windsor,
Raissa Wischi and Alexandria Barr all delivered singles victories for West Liberty and also prevailed in the doubles matches.
Howard and Wischi pitched a shutout at No. 1 doubles while Windsor and Barr prevailed in the No. 2 doubles match.
Christina Pauley and
Sarah Howells finished off the doubles sweep at the No. 3 position.
The Lady Hilltoppers return home to host once-beaten West Virginia State on Saturday morning in a crucial late-season WVIAC showdown. The match is set for a 9 a.m. start at the Edgar Martin Tennis Complex.
