WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University women's tennis team authored a “perfect” ending to the regular season Saturday afternoon by shutting out visiting Bluefield State, 9-0.
Coach
Heather Gallagher's Lady Hilltoppers (7-4, 6-2) didn't lose a single game in sweeping the short-handed Big Blues.
Lauren Howard,
Emma Windsor,
Raissa Wischi and
Alex Barr all rolled to 6-0, 6-0 victories in the four singles matches that were conducted with
Christina Pauley and
Moleigh Poling picking up forfeit wins.
West Liberty's top two tandems of Howard/Wischi and Windsor/Barr had coasted to 8-0 wins in doubles action while Pauley and
Sarah Howells picked up a forfeit nod at No. 3 doubles.
The Hilltoppers head to Charleston Friday where they are expected to be one of the top seeds at the two-day WVIAC Championship tournament.
