INSTITUTE, W.Va. – The West Liberty University women's tennis team ran into a red-hot West Virginia State squad here Friday afternoon and came away on the short end of a 6-3 score.

The host Yellowjackets (9-1, 7-0) got off to a quick start by winning two of the three doubles matches and then swept the bottom four singles matches to close out the victory.

Senior standout Marina Quintana led the Hilltoppers (2-4, 2-2) with a pair of wins on the day, taking a straight-set victory in her No. 2 singles match and teaming with Emma Windsor for an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles. Raissa Wischi picked up West Liberty's other win, downing State's Andreea Slusarciuc, 6-1 3-6 6-2, at No. 1 singles.

Coach Heather Gallagher's Lady Hilltoppers return to the courts on Tuesday when they host Davis & Elkins in a 2 p.m. make-up match at the Edgar Martin Tennis Complex.
