Biography
An outside hitter from Saginaw, Mich., Chelsea comes to West Liberty after two strong seasons at perennial juco powerhouse Oakland (Mich.) Community College. Oakland CC was the national NJCAA runner-up with a 42-4 record during Chelsea's freshman year but was upended in last season's conference semifinals by eventual NJCAA national champion Grand Rapids CC. Chelsea was a 3rd-team All-Conference selection last year and earned the NJCAA Exemplary Academic Achievement Award with a GPA of 3.6 or better. A 2-time All-Conference and All-Region honoree at Hemlock (Mich.) High School, Chelsea was a 3rd-team All-Stater as a senior and was the Midland (Mich.) Daily News' Volleyball Player of the Year. She played four years for the Valley East Travel Volleyball Club and plans to pursue a Business major at West Liberty.
Coach Fetsko says: "Chelsea is a powerhouse hitter and a natural leader. Combined with her charisma on the floor and overall volleyball intelligence, this will make her an impacting force for our team right away. She is someone who I expect will also push her teammates from her work ethic and level of play."
