Angel Estrada

A fixture on the hilltop as he begins his 9th season on the WLU sidelines, Angel Estrada brought an impressive combination of NCAA Division I and professional football playing experience to the program when he arrived at West Liberty.
Several West Liberty defensive backs have earned All-MEC laurels under Estrada over the past four seasons while five of the Hilltoppers’ 10 all-time 1,000-yard receiving seasons came during Estrada’s initial four-year run as WLU’s receivers coach.
A New York City native, Estrada transferred to West Virginia University after being named a junior-college All-American at Nassau (N.Y.) CC. A 2-year starter at WVU, he proved to be an impact player with more than 200 career tackles. A two-time Big East Defensive Player of the Week as a senior in 2002, Estrada went on to earn second-team All-Big East laurels that year.
Estrada went on to become a first-team NIFL All-Star and Atlantic Conference Defensive Player of the Year with the Ohio Valley Greyhounds before moving up to the Arena Football League. After a 4-year AFL career, he entered the coaching profession as an assistant coach at Brooke (W.Va.) High School. He also coached at Fairmont State before coming to West Liberty.
Angel is the proud father of Ava and Maddax.
