GETTYSBURG, Pa. — The West Liberty University women's golf team completed its opening round Monday at the WCU Battlefield Classic, with the Hilltoppers sitting seventh in the team standings at The Links at Gettysburg.

West Liberty finished its first 18 holes with a team score of 518, 230 over par. The Hilltoppers are currently seventh in the team standings. West Chester leads at 33-over par with a score of 321, followed by Jefferson at 39-over and Glenville State at 47-over.

Hannah Shepherd paced the Hilltoppers in the opening round, finishing at 47-over par and currently sitting 34th individually. Jessi Mix followed at 53-over and is 35th, while Brooke Perri is 36th at 64-over.

Morgan Messner is 37th at 66-over, and Delaney Homer rounds out the West Liberty lineup in 39th at 86-over.

West Liberty's opening round came on a day when several teams were unable to complete all 18 holes. Glenville State and Seton Hill had completed 16 holes, while Millersville had completed 17. Those teams will finish their opening rounds Tuesday morning before the second and final round begins.

The second and final round of the WCU Battlefield Classic is scheduled for Tuesday.
