FAIRMONT, W.Va. – The West Liberty University women's golf team has been picked to finish seventh in the 2026 Mountain East Conference preseason poll as the Hilltoppers prepare to open the fall portion of their schedule next week.

West Liberty received 32 points in the preseason voting to land seventh in a 10-team field that includes the addition of Shawnee State to the MEC women's golf lineup.

The University of Charleston, the reigning MEC champion, was selected as the preseason favorite after receiving nine first-place votes and 72 points. Glenville State was second with 59 points, followed by Wheeling with 54 points and one first-place vote. Fairmont State was fourth with 55 points, while Concord rounded out the top five with 40 points.

Davis & Elkins was sixth with 34 points, followed by Shawnee State at eighth with 26, West Virginia Wesleyan ninth with 23 and Point Park tenth with 12.

West Liberty will open the 2026-27 season on Thursday, Sept. 3, at the California (Pa.) Vulcan Invitational at Cedarbrook Golf Course in California, Pa. The two-day tournament will continue through Friday, Sept. 4.
