WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – West Liberty University softball junior outfielder Paytyn Tucker has been named this week's Hilltopper of the Week after a strong all-around performance at the plate and on the base paths.
The Moundsville, W.Va. native put together an impressive stretch over six games, helping lead the Hilltoppers to key conference wins. Tucker recorded seven hits across the week, including a three-hit performance in a victory over Fairmont State.
She showcased her ability to impact the game in multiple ways, scoring runs in five of the six contests while consistently setting the tone at the top of the lineup. Tucker also drove in a run, drew four walks, and stole three bases, continuing to be a constant threat offensively.
Tucker's consistency was highlighted by multiple multi-hit games, including a two-hit effort against Wheeling and another strong showing against Frostburg State as West Liberty completed a doubleheader sweep.
For the week, Tucker hit .412 while raising her season average to .347, continuing to lead the Hilltoppers offensively. She currently tops the team in hits (52), runs scored (34), and stolen bases (24).
A graduate of John Marshall High School, Tucker has been a key catalyst for West Liberty throughout the season, using her speed and consistency to spark the offense.
