WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. — The West Liberty University women's tennis team heads south this weekend for its annual spring break trip, competing in four matches in Hilton Head Island as the Hilltoppers continue the spring portion of their schedule.

West Liberty enters the trip with a 1-1 record this spring after splitting a pair of road matches in New York. The Hilltoppers opened the season with a loss to D'Youville University before bouncing back with an impressive 6-1 victory over Daemen University the following day.

Several Hilltoppers have already produced strong performances early in the season. Maria Martirosyan leads the lineup at No. 1 singles and highlighted the win over Daemen with a hard-fought three-set victory (6-4, 4-6, 6-4) to secure a key team point.

At No. 2 singles, Ana Sanchez has been dominant, earning a convincing 6-1, 6-1 win against Daemen while also teaming with Sanchita Dabas for a 6-2 victory at No. 2 doubles.

The Hilltoppers have also seen consistent success from the duo of Gabrielle Pasco and Elle Monaco, who have provided a strong presence at No. 3 doubles. The pair earned wins in both matches during the opening weekend, including a 6-1 victory over Daemen. Pasco added a singles win at No. 5, while Monaco secured a straight-set victory at No. 6 to help seal the team's 6-1 result.

Courtney Curnutte also contributed a point in singles play against Daemen with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 4 singles, highlighting the Hilltoppers' depth throughout the lineup.

The upcoming spring break trip will give West Liberty the opportunity to build on that momentum against a diverse group of opponents. The Hilltoppers open the trip Saturday (March 7) with an 8:30 a.m. match against University of Rochester.

West Liberty returns to the courts Sunday (March 8) to face Milligan University at 8:30 a.m.. After a short break, the Hilltoppers resume play Wednesday (March 11) against Lawrence Technological University at 9 a.m., before closing the trip Thursday (March 12) with a 9 a.m. matchup against Albany State University.
