WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. — The No.9 West Liberty University men's basketball team remained No. 2 in the Atlantic Region in the latest NCAA Division II regional rankings released Wednesday.
The Hilltoppers, the reigning Atlantic Regional champions, continue to position themselves strongly for a bid to the NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Tournament as postseason play begins across the region.
Gannon University held onto the top spot in the rankings after finishing the regular season with a 26-2 overall record and 19-1 mark in PSAC play. The Golden Knights enter the PSAC Men's Basketball Tournament as the No. 1 seed and will host East Stroudsburg University in the quarterfinals Wednesday night.
Following West Liberty in the rankings is Fairmont State University at No. 3, while Fayetteville State University sits fourth and California University of Pennsylvania rounds out the top five.
The rest of the regional rankings include Indiana University of Pennsylvania in sixth, Virginia Union University seventh, University of Charleston eighth, Millersville University ninth and West Chester University tenth.
The NCAA will announce the 64-team field for the national tournament on Sunday, March 8, with conference tournament champions earning automatic bids while the remaining at-large selections will be determined based on the final regional rankings.
