West Liberty, W.Va. - West Liberty University freshman pitcher Rylee Mangold turned in a standout weekend in the circle, earning Hilltopper of the Week honors after two complete-game performances.
The Frankfort High School product tossed 14.0 total innings across two starts helping anchor the Hilltoppers' pitching staff.
Mangold opened the weekend with a dominant outing against Salem (W.Va.), allowing just three hits and two runs—none earned—over seven innings. She struck out seven and walked just one in a tough-luck loss, showcasing excellent command and control throughout the game.
She followed that performance with a complete-game victory against Point Park, working through adversity to secure the win. Mangold scattered eight hits and allowed five runs (two earned) while striking out three, again going the distance for the Hilltoppers.
Across the weekend, Mangold posted 10 strikeouts in 14 innings while consistently keeping West Liberty in position to compete. Her ability to limit damage—allowing only two earned runs combined—highlighted her composure and effectiveness inside the circle.
Through her freshman campaign, Mangold has compiled a 3.44 ERA over 36.2 innings pitched, continuing to emerge as a key contributor for the Hilltoppers' pitching staff.
Mangold and the Hilltoppers return to the diamond Wednesday when they host Wheeling in a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.Â
