BLUEFIELD, W.Va. – The West Liberty University women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to Bluefield State on March 13 in Bluefield.
Bluefield State opened the match with wins at all three doubles flights. Eken Ozmen and Anna Felip edged Maria Martirosyan and Sanchita Dabas 6-4 at No. 1 doubles, while Raajitha Koganti and Adriana Tovodoba earned a 6-4 victory over Ana Sanchez and Courtney Curnutte at No. 2. At No. 3 doubles, Sirisha Dheer and Isabella Disinnio defeated Gabi Pasco and Elle Monaco 6-3.
West Liberty picked up two victories in singles play.
At No. 3 singles, Sanchita Dabas earned a hard-fought win over Raajitha Koganti, taking the first set 6-3 before dropping the second 3-6 and rallying to win the deciding match tiebreaker 11-9.
The Hilltoppers also secured a point at No. 6 singles as Elle Monaco battled back after losing the opening set to defeat Isabella Disibbio 3-6, 6-3, 10-8.
Bluefield State earned singles victories at the remaining flights to seal the match. Eken Ozmen topped Maria Martirosyan 6-4, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, while Anna Felip defeated Ana Sanchez 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2. Adriana Torroba added a 6-1, 6-0 win over Courtney Curnutte at No. 4, and Sirisha Dheer defeated Gabi Pasco 6-2, 6-2 at No. 5.
