HILTON HEAD, S.C. — The West Liberty University women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to Lawrence Tech on Wednesday during spring break competition in Hilton Head, S.C.

Lawrence Tech secured the early momentum by sweeping the three doubles matches to take the opening point.

At No. 1 doubles, the Hilltopper pair of Maria Martirosyan and Sanchita Dabas fell to Jacqueline Alcocer and Miriam. McCormick, 6-3. At No. 2, Ana Sanchez and Courtney Curnutte were defeated by Isabella Aray and Paola Herrera Rivera, 6-1, while Gabrielle Pasco and Elle Monaco dropped a 6-2 decision to Claudia Calabuig and Taylor Moore at No. 3.

In singles play, Lawrence Tech completed the sweep by winning all six matches.

At No. 1 singles, Maria Martirosyan battled Claudia Calabuig, falling 6-2, 6-2. Ana Sanchez dropped a 6-3, 6-1 match to Jacqueline Alcocer at No. 2, while Sanchita Dabas was defeated 6-1, 6-1 by Isabella Aray at No. 3.

At No. 4 singles, Courtney Curnutte fell to Paola Herrera Rivera, 6-1, 6-1. Elle Monaco dropped a 6-2, 6-2 decision to Miriam McCormick at No. 5, and Kaylex Gibson was defeated by Taylor Moore, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 6.

West Liberty will wrap up its spring break trip in Hilton Head against Albany State Thursday.
