2/4/2026 11:00:00 AM

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. — The West Liberty University women's basketball team returns to action Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. when the Hilltoppers host Davis & Elkins Senators at the Academic, Sports & Recreation Complex in a Mountain East Conference matchup.

Wednesday's game will also serve as a celebration of National Girls & Women in Sports Day (NGWSD), as West Liberty recognizes the achievements of women in athletics and continues to promote equity, leadership, and opportunity in sports.

West Liberty University will celebrate NGWSD beginning at 5 p.m., with festivities running through the conclusion of the women's basketball game. The event is organized locally by West Liberty University Women In Coaching and supported through national NGWSD initiatives.

This year's national theme, #LeadHerForward, highlights the importance of mentorship, visibility, and support for girls and women in athletics. Fans attending Wednesday's game will be able to participate in bracelet making, enjoy photo booth experiences, and interact with West Liberty female student-athletes throughout the evening. Official NGWSD certificates will also be available.

West Liberty enters the contest with a 6-14 overall record and 3-10 mark in MEC play, while Davis & Elkins comes in at 1-19 overall and 0-12 in conference action. The Hilltoppers have enjoyed sustained success in the series, holding a 42-13 all-time advantage against the Senators, including an 84-80 road victory earlier this season in Elkins.

Offensively, West Liberty averages 71.9 points per game, ranking among the top scoring teams in the Mountain East Conference, and leads the league in 3-pointers made per game (7.7). The Hilltoppers also average 14.3 assists per contest, reflecting their ball movement and perimeter-oriented attack.

Anna Lucarelli leads the Hilltoppers with 15.5 points per game, while also pacing the team in assists and steals. Reagan Vinskovich provides a strong inside presence with 16.1 points and 8.4 rebounds per game, giving West Liberty balance in the frontcourt. Olivia Baker adds perimeter firepower, shooting 38.3 percent from 3-point range.

Davis & Elkins is led by Jahniya Marion, who averages 13.5 points per game, and Kylie Morris, who contributes 9.6 points and 4.8 rebounds per contest.

Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the ASRC, with NGWSD activities beginning at 5 p.m. Fans are encouraged to arrive early and take part in the celebration.
