No. 6 Hilltoppers Roll Past Salem 121-87 for 14th Straight Win, Close Regular Season Saturday at Wheeling

SALEM, W.Va. — No. 6 West Liberty University continued its late-season surge Wednesday night, powering past Salem University 121-87 inside T. Edward Davis Gymnasium.

The victory improves the Hilltoppers to 24-3 overall (18-1 MEC) and marks their 14th consecutive win. West Liberty delivered one of its most complete offensive performances of the season, shooting 42-of-77 from the floor and knocking down 15 three-pointers while setting a season high in points.

West Liberty also turned defense into offense, forcing 23 Salem turnovers and converting them into 29 points. Although the Tigers scored 52 points in the paint, they were unable to match the Hilltoppers' pace and scoring efficiency.

The Hilltoppers wasted little time establishing control. Hayden Abdullah ignited the offense with a dunk at the 19:09 mark before Myles Montgomery drilled a three-pointer seconds later. Montgomery added a steal and transition layup as West Liberty capitalized on early Salem miscues.

The visitors maintained steady pressure throughout the opening half. Jamie Muldowney added a tip-in midway through the period, while Abdullah and Cameron Williams connected from deep to extend the margin. Peter Lattos capped the half with a layup following a steal as West Liberty carried a commanding 60-38 lead into the break.

West Liberty kept its foot on the gas in the second half. Williams converted a layup off a turnover to open the period, and Montgomery added another three-pointer as the Hilltoppers continued to stretch the lead.

The defensive intensity remained high, with Abdullah, Muldowney and Dante Spadafora each recording key steals. Max Hurray added a three-pointer off the bench as West Liberty's depth once again proved decisive.

The Hilltoppers closed out the contest with consistent fast-break execution and balanced scoring to secure the 121-87 victory.
