No. 6 Hilltoppers Ranked No. 2 in Second NCAA Atlantic Region Poll

2/25/2026 5:41:00 PM

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The NCAA released its second set of Division II Atlantic Region rankings on Wednesday, and the No. 6-ranked West Liberty University men's basketball team holds the No. 2 spot in the Atlantic Region.

Unlike last week's initial regional listing, which was presented in alphabetical order, this week's rankings reflect true regional positioning as teams jockey for NCAA Tournament placement.

West Liberty (23-3) enters the final stretch of the regular season as the reigning Atlantic Regional champion and last year's regional host. The Hilltoppers have already secured their ninth consecutive Mountain East Conference regular season championship and 12th league title in the 13-year history of the conference.

The Hilltoppers are also pursuing — a record 17th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance, the longest streak in Division II history.

Gannon (24-2) currently sits atop the regional rankings, followed by West Liberty at No. 2. Fellow MEC contender Fairmont State (21-4) checks in at No. 3, giving the conference two teams inside the top three.

Indiana (Pa.) (19-4) is ranked fourth, with Virginia Union (21-4) rounding out the top five.

The second five includes California (Pa.) (18-7) at No. 6, Fayetteville State (20-6) at No. 7, West Chester (19-6) at No. 8, Charleston (WV) (17-8) at No. 9 and East Stroudsburg (19-7) at No. 10.
