HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — The West Liberty men's and women's track & field teams capped off a strong weekend at the Mountain East Conference Indoor Championships at Marshall University with multiple podium finishes, a conference championship, and three school records set in finals competition.
Sprints & Hurdles
West Liberty scored key points in the 60-meter finals on both sides.
On the men's side, Tristin Ohler placed fourth in a personal-best 6.898, while Timber Huysmans finished seventh in 7.02.
For the women, Ky'Ara Ross earned runner-up honors in the 60m, clocking 7.732 to score eight team points.
In the 60-meter hurdles finals, Marissa Scott placed fourth for the Hilltoppers with a personal-best 9.08. On the men's side, freshman Dominick Gagum finished seventh in 8.76, also a personal best.
200 Meter Finals — School Record
Huysmans highlighted the men's sprint events by placing second in the 200 meters with a school-record time of 21.39, a mark that ranks No. 26 nationally in Division II. Ohler added a third-place finish in 21.75.
Ross added more points on the women's side with a fourth-place finish in the 200m (25.31), while Sierra Lanham placed seventh (25.93).
Middle Distance
Zachary Workman scored in the men's 800 meters with a sixth-place finish in 1:56.34.
On the women's side, freshman Naomi Young placed seventh in the 800 meters in 2:21.46.
Relays — School Record & Conference Title
The women's 4x400-meter relay team closed the meet in championship fashion, winning the MEC title and setting a school record with a time of 3:57.46. The quartet of Hannah Rowan, Sasha Hunter, Sierra Lanham, and Brookelyn Reynolds earned 10 team points with the historic performance.
The men's 4x400 relay team of Dominic Gianangeli, Harry Kanu, Francis Toohey, and Zachary Workman placed eighth.
Field Events
West Liberty collected valuable points in the field events as well:

Ethan Furbee placed third in the high jump (1.90m), with George Donovic finishing fifth and Connor Gribble eighth.

In the long jump, freshman Isaah Beard finished fourth with a personal-best 6.84m.

In the pole vault, Reese Burnside placed fourth, Dominick Gagum fifth, and John Bowen seventh.

On the women's side, Ava Hoffman scored in the high jump with an eighth-place finish.

Ky'Ara Ross added points in the triple jump with a seventh-place finish.
Ross' triple jump performance of 10.85m marked one of three school records established over the championship weekend, joining Huysmans' record-setting 200m performance and the women's record-breaking 4x400 relay.
The West Liberty women finished third overall with 82 team points, while the men placed fourth with 73.5 points in the final standings.
