West Liberty Women Roll Past Daemen, 6-1

AMHERST, N.Y. – The West Liberty University women's tennis team turned in a dominant performance Saturday evening, defeating Daemen University, 6-1, at the Miller Tennis Center.

The Hilltoppers claimed the doubles point and won five of six singles matches to secure the convincing road victory.

Doubles

West Liberty took two of the three doubles matches to grab the early 1-0 advantage.

At No. 2 doubles, Ana Sanchez and Sanchita Dabas earned a 6-2 victory over Bella Bjerkan and Ashley Bonilla.

The Hilltoppers also captured the No. 3 doubles match, as Gabrielle Pasco and Elle Monaco defeated Lily Goodemote and Nadja Emmendorfer, 6-1.

Daemen picked up its lone doubles win at No. 1, where Marley Conover and Carly Armitage defeated Maria Martirosyan and Courtney Curnutte, 6-0.

Singles

West Liberty controlled singles play, winning five of six courts.

At No. 1 singles, Maria Martirosyan battled past Conover in a three-set thriller, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4.

Ana Sanchez followed with a commanding 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 2 singles over Bjerkan.

Daemen earned its only team point at No. 3 singles, where Carly Armitage defeated Sanchita Dabas, 6-0, 6-2.

The Hilltoppers swept the remaining singles flights to close out the match.

Courtney Curnutte secured a 6-1, 6-1 win over Bonilla at No. 4 singles.

Gabrielle Pasco earned a victory at No. 5 singles, 6-3, 7-6 over Goodemote.

Elle Monaco capped the evening with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Dania Mehani at No. 6 singles.
