10/6/2026 12:00:00 PM

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. — West Liberty University sophomore Amira DuPree has been named the Hilltopper of the Week following another strong stretch for the Hilltopper volleyball team.

The 5-foot-9 outside hitter/defensive specialist has been one of West Liberty's most consistent all-around performers this season and currently ranks among the Mountain East Conference's top 10 in both kills and points.

DuPree ranks sixth in the MEC with 2.91 kills per set and is eighth in the conference with 3.31 points per set. She has totaled 192 kills, 17 service aces and 15 blocks for 218.5 points through 19 matches.

She also leads the Hilltoppers in both kills and points while ranking second on the team in digs per set. DuPree has recorded 199 digs for an average of 3.02 per set, giving her a team-best 192 kills and 199 digs on the season.

DuPree has been particularly productive during West Liberty's recent surge in Mountain East Conference play. The Hilltoppers have won four of their last five matches and enter the week 4-1 in MEC play, with conference victories against Charleston, Davis & Elkins, Point Park and Frostburg State. cume (5)

The sophomore put together another impressive performance in Friday's five-set victory against Frostburg State, finishing with 13 kills and 15 digs while helping the Hilltoppers rally for a 3-2 victory.

That performance came on the heels of a 16-kill, 12-dig effort at Davis & Elkins and a 14-kill, 15-dig performance against Charleston. Over those three consecutive conference matches, DuPree totaled 43 kills and 42 digs.

She has also produced some of her best numbers in five-set matches this season. DuPree recorded 15 kills and 23 digs against Thomas More on Aug. 29 and added nine kills and 13 digs in a five-set match against Daemen on Sept. 4.

DuPree's combination of offensive production and defensive work has made her a key piece of the Hilltoppers' recent success. Her 192 kills rank sixth in the MEC on a per-set basis, while her 218.5 points place her eighth in the conference at 3.31 points per set.
