WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. — Freshman guard Myles Montgomery has been named West Liberty's Hilltopper of the Week after a strong three-game stretch in Mountain East Conference play.
The 5-10 guard from Minford, Ohio played a key role for the Hilltoppers last week, averaging 15.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game while shooting an efficient 57.9 percent from the field.
Montgomery opened the week with a solid all-around performance against West Virginia State on Jan. 19, finishing with 12 points, six rebounds and four assists in 20 minutes of action. He followed that effort with 15 points, seven assists and three rebounds at Point Park on Jan. 21, knocking down both of his 3-point attempts and going 5-for-6 at the free throw line.
The freshman capped off the week with his best outing on Jan. 24 against Wheeling, logging a career-high 18 points to go along with nine rebounds in 34 minutes. Montgomery shot 6-of-10 from the floor and added two assists, two steals and a blocked shot in the contest.
The Hilltoppers will visit West Virginia State Wednesday and host Charleston Saturday.
