WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. — West Liberty put together a strong second-half effort but was unable to overcome turnovers in a 100-89 loss to Glenville State on Wednesday evening at the ASRC.

The Hilltoppers received a strong performance from their bench, which accounted for 33 points, and held a 46-38 advantage in points in the paint. However, Glenville State capitalized on 33 West Liberty turnovers, converting them into 28 points, to secure the road victory.

West Liberty opened the game with confidence, jumping out to an 8–2 lead behind sharp shooting, including back-to-back 3-pointers from Ana-Isabel Andersson and Olivia Baker. Glenville State answered with a steady offensive push, closing the gap and taking the lead late in the quarter to go ahead 30–25 after one.

Turnovers plagued the Hilltoppers in the second quarter, allowing the Pioneers to build momentum and extend their lead. Jameka Brungard converted a layup and free throw at the 9:06 mark, and Anna Lucarelli added a late layup and free throw at 1:03, but West Liberty committed 15 first-half turnovers. Glenville State took advantage, outscoring the Hilltoppers 16–10 in the paint during the period to carry a 60–42 halftime lead.

West Liberty found its offensive rhythm midway through the third quarter, sparked by Baker's 3-pointer at 7:42, assisted by Andersson Rodriguez. Reagan Vinskovich provided a strong inside presence, scoring through contact and at the free-throw line to keep the Hilltoppers within reach. Despite the surge, turnovers again led to Glenville State scoring opportunities. Both teams scored 29 points in the quarter, with the Pioneers holding an 87–71 advantage entering the final period.

The Hilltoppers opened the fourth quarter with increased defensive intensity, highlighted by Brungard's block at 9:37. Lucarelli followed with a 3-pointer at 9:09, again set up by Andersson Rodriguez, but Glenville State answered quickly to maintain control.

West Liberty continued to attack the paint down the stretch, with Vinskovich adding key baskets, including a layup at the 1:20 mark. Glenville State's consistent scoring, however, proved too much to overcome as the Hilltoppers fell 100–89 at the final buzzer.

Vinskovich delivered a breakout performance, finishing with a game-high and career-high 28 points and 11 rebounds in her first extended playing time after battling injuries her first two seasons. Lucarelli added 16 points, nine assists, and two blocks, while Brungard scored 18 points on 7-of-9 shooting and recorded three blocks. Baker chipped in 14 points, knocking down three 3-pointers and dishing out four assists.

West Liberty will return to Mountain East Conference action on Saturday, traveling to Concord for a road matchup with the Mountain Lions.
