WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University women's soccer team came up short in its home opener Sunday afternoon, falling 2-0 to Seton Hill at the West Family Athletic Complex.
The Griffins (1-1-0) struck first in the 27th minute when Katie Pazdziorko fired a shot high into the center of the net for the game's opening goal. Seton Hill doubled its lead midway through the second half as Jackie Massof finished off a pass from Lauren Mealie in the 53rd minute.
West Liberty (0-2-0) generated opportunities with eight total shots, including three on frame, but couldn't find the back of the net against the Griffins' back line and goalkeeper. Seton Hill finished with an 18-8 edge in shots and a 13-3 advantage in shots on goal.
Hilltopper goalkeeper Cianna Butera kept her team within striking distance, recording 11 saves against the Griffins' pressure.
West Liberty will look to bounce back next Sunday when they visit Fairmont State in their Mountain East Conference opener.
