West Liberty, W.Va. – The West Liberty University men's soccer team looks to bounce back from a midweek setback when it welcomes rival Wheeling to the West Family Athletic Complex on Sunday afternoon. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m.
The Hilltoppers (0-1-0) dropped a 2-0 decision to Seton Hill on Thursday in their home opener, while the Cardinals (0-1-0) are also searching for their first win after falling 3-0 to California (Pa.) on their home turf. Both squads will be hungry to get in the win column, adding extra fuel to an already fierce Ohio Valley rivalry.
West Liberty has held the upper hand in the series of late, sweeping both meetings last fall and compiling a 4-0-1 mark against Wheeling over the past five matchups. The Hilltoppers' ability to control possession and limit scoring chances has been key in recent victories, and head coach Sean Regan's side will look to follow a similar blueprint on Sunday.
The game is the Mountain East Conference opener for each school.
