ST. CLAIRSVILLE, Ohio – The West Liberty University women's golf team opened its fall season at the Wheeling Fall Invitational, played at Belmont Hills Country Club. The Hilltoppers placed seventh overall in the nine-team field with a team score of +318 (151-167).
Glenville State captured the team title at +71, followed by Millersville (+105) and California (Pa.) (+117) in the top three.
Sara Simon led the way for West Liberty, finishing tied for 17th in the individual standings with rounds of 88-87 to close at +31 (175). Hannah Shepherd was next for the Black and Gold, carding rounds of 99-99 to finish at +58 (198).
Rounding out the lineup, Serenidy Wertz posted a two-day total of +105 (123-123), while Brooke Perri closed at +124 (145-145) for the Hilltoppers.
The invitational featured a strong field highlighted by Glenville State's Elaina Seeley (+13), who claimed medalist honors by a single shot over teammate Olivia Dickson (+14).
The Hilltoppers have a quick turnaround, playing Monday and Tuesday in the Charleston Invitational at Berry HIlls Country Club in Charleston, W.Va.
