KNOX, Pa. – The West Liberty University women's golf team wrapped up the opening round of the Golden Eagle Autumn Invitational on Saturday at Clarion Oaks Golf Club, finishing the day in fourth place on the team leaderboard.
The Hilltoppers posted a team score of 119-over-par 503 through the first 18 holes. Host Clarion leads the tournament at 31-over-par, with Seton Hill (+39) and Concord (+58) rounding out the top three.
Sara Simon turned in the best round for West Liberty, carding a team-low 86 (+14) to sit inside the individual top 10. Simon is tied for ninth overall in the 36-hole event, just 12 shots back of co-leaders Hannah Smith (Clarion) and Ali Boyle (Seton Hill), who each posted rounds of 74 (+2).
Hannah Shepherd followed with an 89 (+17), placing her 13th in the field, while Brooke Perri shot 110 (+38). Reese Ward rounded out the Hilltoppers' lineup with a 122 (+50).
The tournament will conclude Sunday with the final round at Clarion Oaks.
