PIPESTEM, W.Va. — The West Liberty University women's golf team completed the opening round of the Pipestem Collegiate on Monday at Pipestem Resort State Park, finishing the day in third place among the five competing teams.

Concord leads the tournament after day one with a team score of +60, followed by Glenville State's "B" team at +75. West Liberty sits in third with a total score of +146, ahead of Bluefield State and Wheeling, who are competing with individual players only.

For the Hilltoppers, Sara Simon turned in the team's best performance with a round of +16 (88), placing her in a tie for sixth overall in the individual standings. She sits just outside the top five heading into Tuesday's final round.

Hannah Shepherd is also inside the top 10 after carding a +20 (92) to finish the day in 10th place. Brooke Perri posted a +54 (126), while Reese Ward finished with a +56 (128) to round out West Liberty's scoring.

On the individual leaderboard, Wheeling's Ella Keffer leads the field after a strong even-par round, followed by Concord's Kendra Lugo (+7) and Bluefield State's Candela Lopez Prino (+10).

The tournament concludes Tuesday with the final 18 holes at Pipestem Resort State Park.
