Bloomsburg, Pa. — The West Liberty University men's tennis team faced a challenging slate of matches over the weekend, squaring off against opponents from Mercyhurst, St. Francis, Bloomsburg, and Lehigh before finishing the day on a high note with several victories against Daemen.

The Hilltoppers dropped early doubles decisions to Mercyhurst, St. Francis, Bloomsburg, and Lehigh, with singles play proving equally tough against nationally competitive lineups. Robert Lindsey, Chris Burns, Aidan Lucas, Austin Zgurski, Ethan Shepard, Pablo Zubieta, and Igmario Giurfa each battled in singles action but fell short against veteran players from Mercyhurst, St. Francis, Bloomsburg, and Lehigh.

West Liberty found its stride in the final set of matches against Daemen. The duo of Robert Lindsey and Chance Brozstek picked up a 6-2 doubles victory over Vondin Henderson and Joseph LaBrake, while later in the session, Mitchell Pollack and Riley Fitzgerald teamed up for another 6-2 win in doubles play.

The Hilltoppers also came through with several singles victories against Daemen. Pollack rolled to a 4-0, 4-0 sweep over Lindsey, while Fitzgerald added a 4-1, 4-1 win against Brozstek. Brozstek capped the strong finish with a 4-2, 4-2 victory over LaBrake, giving West Liberty three singles wins in the matchup.
