Cedarville, Ohio – The West Liberty University volleyball team put together one of its most efficient outings of the young season on Friday afternoon, sweeping past D'Youville in straight sets (25-20, 25-17, 25-23) at the Cedarville Invitational.
The Hilltoppers (3-4) hit .297 as a team while holding the Saints (1-4) to just .134. West Liberty recorded 42 kills to D'Youville's 32 and finished with advantages in assists (40-32) and digs (51-40).
Ashley Cudnik powered the attack with a match-high 12 kills at a .286 clip. Grace Hill was dominant at the net with eight kills on only 12 swings (.500), while Liv McAtee also added eight kills at .381. Setter Olivia Beldean dished out 17 assists, and Dakoda Keni was close behind with 16.
Defensively, libero Bella Dart led the way with 15 digs, followed by Amira DuPree (14) and Keni (10). DuPree also chipped in five kills and a pair of aces.
The Hilltoppers controlled the first two sets with steady hitting and serving, then rallied late in the third to close out the sweep.
West Liberty continues tournament play on Saturday with two more matches in Cedarville, facing the University of Indianapolis at 11:30 a.m. and host Cedarville at 7 p.m.
