WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University Athletic Department and Football
Program are mourning the tragic loss of student-athlete Nate Jennings, who passed away
early Sunday morning.

Jennings, 19, of Palm Bay, Florida, had recently transferred to West Liberty during the spring
semester from the University of Northwestern – St. Paul in Minnesota, where he played on
the defensive line for the Eagles.

Head Football Coach Roger Waialae shared, "We are heartbroken by the loss of one of our
own. Nate was more than just an athlete. He was a teammate, a friend, and a shining
example of what a student athlete should be. His presence will forever be missed, but their
spirit will always be part of our team. Our thoughts and prayers are with their family,
friends, and all who loved them."

Director of Athletics, Brad Forshey added, "We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of a
member of our athletic community, Nate Jennings. This is a heartbreaking time for all of us,
and our thoughts are with the family, teammates, and loved ones who are grieving. We will
remember his spirit, his presence, and the impact he had on those around him. As we
come together to mourn, we also honor his memory with the strength and unity that define
us."
