4/11/2025 4:00:00 PM

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University softball team returns home this weekend for a pair of Mountain East Conference (MEC) doubleheaders at the Hilltopper Softball Complex.

The Hilltoppers (20-19, 12-6 MEC), currently second in the MEC North Division, will celebrate Senior Day on Saturday as they host Davis & Elkins at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. On Sunday, WLU welcomes West Virginia Wesleyan for another twin bill scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.

West Liberty will honor four seniors — Emily Allen, Madison Angus, Sydney Johnson, and Kayla Mancuso — prior to Saturday's games for their contributions to the program both on and off the field.

WLU snapped a three-game skid with a 4-2 win over Wheeling on Wednesday and looks to carry that momentum into the weekend. The Hilltoppers enter the series with a .277 team batting average, ranking seventh in the MEC, and a 3.91 team ERA, good for fifth-best in the league.

Individually, Sydney Johnson leads WLU at the plate with a .383 batting average (10th in MEC), while Isabella McKee paces the team with 22 RBIs, also tied for 10th in the league. In the circle, Kadence Pettit ranks ninth in the MEC with a 3.25 ERA, and Madison Angus follows closely behind at 11th with a 3.57 ERA.

Davis & Elkins (17-23, 10-7 MEC) comes into the matchup with the second-best team batting average in the MEC at .298, but ranks ninth in ERA at 5.98. Offensively, Ashlyn Zapach leads the Senators with a .396 average (6th MEC) and is tied for second in the league with 35 RBIs, alongside teammate Linzey Allard. On the mound, Sammie Jarvis holds a team-best 4.57 ERA, followed by Saylor Kneeland at 4.62.

West Virginia Wesleyan (13-27, 8-10 MEC) is batting .266 as a team (8th in MEC) with a 4.14 ERA (6th MEC). The Bobcats are led by standout hitter Andie Dizon, who tops the MEC with a .456 batting average and ranks sixth in RBIs with 30. In the circle, Kendall Stoffel anchors the pitching staff with a 2.50 ERA, the fifth-best mark in the conference.
