West Liberty, W.Va. – The West Liberty University softball team is gearing up for a pivotal weekend as they welcome a pair of Mountain East Conference (MEC) North Division rivals to the West Liberty Softball Complex.

The Hilltoppers (7-1 MEC) will host Frostburg State on Saturday for a doubleheader at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., followed by a Sunday showdown against Fairmont State at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

West Liberty currently leads the North Division standings, with Fairmont State (6-2 MEC) close behind in second place. Frostburg State (3-5 MEC) sits in fourth. The Hilltoppers enter the weekend on a five-game winning streak, coming off dominant 8-0 and 19-7 victories at Wheeling on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the Bobcats have dropped three straight, while the Falcons are riding a three-game win streak.

Sydney Johnson leads the Hilltopper offense with a .429 batting average (6th in MEC), while Isabella McKee has driven in a team-high 19 RBIs (12th MEC). McKee and Emily Allen share the team lead in home runs with three (6th MEC).

In the circle, Kadence Pettit paces the pitching staff with seven wins (3rd MEC), a 3.48 ERA (11th MEC), and 37 strikeouts (11th MEC). Madison Angus ranks just behind her in ERA at 3.52 (12th MEC).

Last season, West Liberty went 2-3 against Frostburg State and 1-4 against Fairmont State, but the Hilltoppers got the last laugh, defeating both teams in the MEC Tournament.
