Box Score

Xenia, Ohio – The West Liberty University baseball team came up just short in a hard-fought battle, falling 6-4 to Cedarville on Saturday at the Athletes in Action facility.

Game Recap:

West Liberty struck first in the top of the first inning, as Will Balgo's fielder's choice to first base brought home Noah Mildren for an early 1-0 lead.

Cedarville responded quickly, plating three runs in the bottom half of the inning. Cooper Martin delivered a two-run double to center, followed by a sacrifice fly, giving the Yellow Jackets a 3-1 advantage after one. Cedarville tacked on another run in the second inning, extending the lead to 4-1.

West Liberty chipped away in the fifth, with Balgo driving in Mildren again on a single to left, cutting the deficit to 4-2.

The Hilltoppers tied the game in the eighth, capitalizing on a balk and a wild pitch to even the score at 4-4. However, Cedarville responded in the bottom of the inning, loading the bases and scoring two decisive runs—one on a passed ball and another on a hit-by-pitch.

West Liberty went down in order in the ninth.
