Xenia, Ohio – The West Liberty University baseball team came up just short in a hard-fought battle, falling 6-4 to Cedarville on Saturday at the Athletes in Action facility.

West Liberty struck first in the top of the first inning, as Will Balgo's fielder's choice to first base brought home Noah Mildren for an early 1-0 lead.
Cedarville responded quickly, plating three runs in the bottom half of the inning. Cooper Martin delivered a two-run double to center, followed by a sacrifice fly, giving the Yellow Jackets a 3-1 advantage after one. Cedarville tacked on another run in the second inning, extending the lead to 4-1.
West Liberty chipped away in the fifth, with Balgo driving in Mildren again on a single to left, cutting the deficit to 4-2.
The Hilltoppers tied the game in the eighth, capitalizing on a balk and a wild pitch to even the score at 4-4. However, Cedarville responded in the bottom of the inning, loading the bases and scoring two decisive runs—one on a passed ball and another on a hit-by-pitch.
West Liberty went down in order in the ninth.
