West Liberty Women Fall to Glenville State

West Liberty, W.Va. – The West Liberty University women's basketball team fell to Glenville State, 108-82, on Wednesday night at the ASRC.

The Pioneers, who lead the Mountain East Conference in scoring, set the tone early, outscoring the Hilltoppers 52-31 in the first half.

West Liberty battled in the second half, keeping the third quarter competitive as Glenville State edged them 30-28. The fourth quarter followed a similar pattern, with the Pioneers holding a slight 26-23 advantage.

Despite shooting a higher percentage from the field (49% to 46%), the Hilltoppers struggled to keep pace with Glenville State's relentless attack. The Pioneers attempted 96 shots—37 more than West Liberty's 59—allowing them to control the tempo throughout the game.

Glenville State had six players score in double figures, led by Nwando Okigbo with 20 points.

Bailee Smith paced West Liberty with a game-high 24 points, while Anna Lucarelli contributed 16 points, six assists, and six rebounds. Jenna Ricarddo also added 16 points and five rebounds for the Hilltoppers.

West Liberty will look to bounce back on Saturday when they travel to Concord for a 2 p.m. matchup.
