WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. — The West Liberty University volleyball team turned in a dominant all-around performance Tuesday night, sweeping Point Park University 25-18, 25-16, 25-15 inside the ASRC.
The Hilltoppers' defense set the tone, racking up 13 total blocks, while their attack was efficient from start to finish — hitting .252 with 38 kills. The Pioneers struggled to find offensive rhythm, finishing with a .009 hitting percentage against West Liberty's relentless front line.
West Liberty opened the match strong, fueled by an early service ace from Dakoda Keni and a series of blocks by Liv McAtee and Adrienne Staib to pull away after a 3–3 tie. Lily Brinker added another ace, while Grace Hill and Kyia White delivered key kills to extend the lead. Ashley Cudnik closed the first set with several powerful swings, securing a 25–18 win to set the tone.
The Hilltoppers continued their momentum in the second set. A service ace from Amira DuPree and a pivotal block by Staib and McAtee helped spark an 8–0 run that swung control to West Liberty. Cudnik and Staib kept the attack rolling, while the Hilltoppers' defense forced multiple Point Park errors en route to a 25–16 victory.
In the third set, West Liberty left no doubt. Hill opened with an early kill off a Keni set, and Cudnik continued her dominant night with multiple kills and strong play at the net. White and Staib added late points before Cudnik sealed the sweep with a decisive kill for a 25–15 finish.
Cudnik led all players with 17 kills and 17.5 points, while Keni dished out 34 assists to pace the Hilltopper offense. Hill anchored the defense with six blocks and 10.5 points, and Staib hit an impressive .750 with six kills on eight swings.
With the win, West Liberty improves to 16-11 (8-3 MEC) and will look to carry its momentum into Friday's road match at Fairmont State. First serve is set for 7 p.m. in Fairmont.
