Hilltopper of the Week: Kyia White

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – West Liberty University sophomore Kyia White has been named the Hilltopper of the Week after delivering standout performances that helped power the volleyball team to a pair of home victories last week.

White was a consistent force at the net and on the defensive end as the Hilltoppers swept Salem University on Tuesday before notching their first Mountain East Conference win of the season Friday night against Fairmont State.

In the win over Salem, White finished with four kills, seven digs, and two aces, contributing to West Liberty's dominant .291 team hitting percentage in the straight-set victory. She followed that with one of her best all-around performances of the season against Fairmont State, recording 12 kills and 14 digs while hitting .229 over three sets.

For the week, White totaled 16 kills, 21 digs, and two aces, while maintaining steady efficiency on both sides of the ball. Her energy and consistency were key in helping West Liberty improve to 8-9 overall and 1-1 in MEC play.

Through 17 matches this season, the East Liverpool, Ohio, native ranks among the team leaders with 115 kills, 155 digs, and 18 service aces, showcasing her versatility as both a hitter and defender.

White and the Hilltoppers return to action tonight at Point Park, looking to build on their momentum as conference play continues.
