DANIELS, W.Va. – The West Liberty University women's golf team is set to tee off at the 2025 Mountain East Conference Men's and Women's Golf Championship, which runs October 6-8 at The Resort at Glade Springs in Daniels, W.Va. The 54-hole event will be contested on the par-72, 6,001-yard Cobb Course, with the top six teams advancing to the third round along with the top three individuals not on an advancing squad.
The Hilltoppers arrive at the championship battle-tested after a busy fall slate that has featured steady improvement and several bright individual performances. Senior Sara Simon has been the anchor for the Black and Gold, delivering a string of strong outings across the schedule. Simon highlighted the fall with a tie for sixth at the Golden Eagle Autumn Invitational, where she closed with one of the best rounds of the tournament, a 77. She also cracked the top five earlier at the Pipestem Collegiate, tying for fourth with a closing-round 79.
Hannah Shepherd has provided consistency in the middle of the lineup, notching a top-15 finish at Pipestem while also contributing in each event this fall. Brooke Perri and Reese Ward round out the four-player lineup and have continued to lower their scores through the fall season, helping the Hilltoppers climb the team standings as tournaments have progressed.
West Liberty's fall has included stops at Wheeling, Charleston, Pipestem, Fairmont State, and Clarion, giving the squad a wide range of competition and course setups leading into the MEC Championship. Along the way, the Hilltoppers posted a season-best third-place team finish at the Pipestem Collegiate and followed with a fourth-place effort at Clarion Oaks.
Play begins Monday morning and continues through Wednesday, with team and individual champions to be crowned in one of the conference's marquee fall championships.
