WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. — The West Liberty University women's soccer team is back in action Wednesday morning, making the short trip to Pittsburgh for an 11 a.m. Mountain East Conference matchup against Point Park University.

The Hilltoppers (3-12, 1-10 MEC) are coming off one of their most dominant performances of the season — a 9-0 road win at Salem on Sunday. West Liberty controlled every phase of play, holding Salem without a single shot while getting goals from six different players. Senior forward Maya Taggart led the way with a hat trick, while Perla Bäckberg, Abby Kightlinger, Emma Lieu, Beatrice Allan, Leah Paugh, and Corinne Westbrook all added to the scoring column.

Taggart and Bäckberg have paced the Hilltopper offense throughout the year, combining for 11 goals and three assists, while Lieu and Holly Brighton have each chipped in multiple assists to bolster the attack. Overall, West Liberty has scored 23 goals this season and averages just over nine shots per game.

Defensively,  goalkeeper Cianna Butera continues to be one of the busiest and most resilient keepers in the MEC, totaling 113 saves through 14 starts this season.

Point Park (6-6-3, 5-5-2 MEC) enters Wednesday's match after a scoreless draw at Frostburg State on Saturday. The Pioneers were outshot 20-3 in that contest but held strong behind the play of goalkeeper Nicole Kuchinski, who made four saves to earn her third draw of the season.

When these two teams met earlier this fall on Sept. 21, Point Park earned a 5-1 win at West Liberty behind a balanced offensive attack led by Rebecca Pihlgren (2 goals) and Maria Gomez, Martina Cardemil, and Maya Figueroa, who each scored once.

On the season, the Pioneers have scored 33 goals (2.20 per game), led by Pihlgren's nine tallies and six more from Sterre Kuijper. At home, Point Park holds a 3-4-1 record and sits third in the MEC North Division standings with 17 points, while West Liberty is fifth with three points.

Following Wednesday's road test, the Hilltoppers will return home this weekend to host Fairmont State Sunday for senior day.
