BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — The West Liberty University women's soccer team delivered its most dominant performance of the season Sunday, rolling to a 9–0 victory over Salem University at The Bridge Sports Complex. The Hilltoppers controlled the match from start to finish, outshooting the Tigers 23–0 and placing 19 shots on goal, while goalkeeper Rayna Hoover earned a clean sheet without facing a single shot.
West Liberty wasted no time setting the tone as Emma Lieu opened the scoring in the 3rd minute. Beatrice Allan doubled the lead at the 13-minute mark, and the Hilltoppers never looked back. Leah Paugh extended the margin to 3–0 in the 41st minute before Maya Taggart closed the half in style, netting goals in the 44th and 45th minutes to complete a five-goal first half.
The Hilltoppers continued their offensive surge after halftime. Isabella Guerra converted a penalty kick in the 49th minute, followed by back-to-back goals from Abby Kightlinger (51') and Perla Bäckberg (53'), the latter assisted by Frida Lundberg. Taggart capped her hat trick with a final strike in the 79th minute, securing the 9–0 result and sealing an emphatic road win.
Taggart led the Hilltoppers' attack with three goals on seven shots, including six on target. Lieu, Allan, Paugh, Westbrook, Kightlinger, and Bäckberg each added goals in a balanced team effort that saw eight different Hilltoppers record a point.
With the win, West Liberty improved to 3–12 overall, earning its third shutout of the season.
The Hilltoppers return to action on Wednesday, traveling to Pittsburgh, Pa., to face Point Park. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
