Hilltoppers Roll Past Glenville State for Fourth Straight Sweep

GLENVILLE, W.Va. — The West Liberty University volleyball team continued its hot streak Friday night, sweeping Glenville State College in straight sets — 25-19, 25-16, 25-15 — at the Waco Center.

The win marked the fourth consecutive sweep for the surging Hilltoppers, who have now captured seven of their last eight matches behind a balanced attack and stifling defense. West Liberty hit .311 as a team while racking up 10 total blocks and six service aces, holding the Pioneers to a .127 hitting percentage.

The Hilltoppers came out sharp in the opening set, jumping to an early 9-4 lead behind kills from Adrienne Staib and Kyia White, along with a service ace from White. Ashley Cudnik provided consistent offense throughout the set, notching several key kills to keep Glenville State at bay before Staib closed it out with a decisive kill for the 25-19 win.

West Liberty kept the pressure on in the second set, racing to a 6-2 advantage behind strong play from Dakoda Keni and Liv McAtee. Grace Hill and Cudnik each added kills and blocks as the Hilltoppers extended their lead to 12-4. McAtee punctuated the set with a thunderous kill, sealing a 25-16 victory.

In the third, McAtee and Staib helped the Black and Gold maintain momentum with timely kills and key blocks as the Hilltoppers built a 15-11 cushion. A service ace from Keni and a string of Glenville State errors pushed the lead out of reach, with McAtee delivering the final point in a 25-15 clincher.

Cudnik led the way with 15 kills on 35 attempts (.314) to go with 11 digs and 18 total points. McAtee hit .526 with 10 kills and four blocks (two solo), while Hill added 10 kills on .471 hitting and four block assists. Keni directed the offense with 37 assists and chipped in two service aces.

West Liberty (13-10, 6-2) will look to stay hot with a quick turnaround on Saturday, traveling to Athens, W.Va., to face Concord University at 10 a.m.
