WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. - What proved to be an intense and rather suspenseful Mountain East Conference Opener,  Davis & Elkins defeated West Liberty in the final minute of regulation at West Family Athletic Complex.

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

• The Senators and Hilltoppers were scoreless through the first 34 minutes of play 

• Senator midfielder Frannciso Lopez Kreik put Davis & Elkins on the scoreboard with a goal scored in the 35th minute 

• Early in the 2nd half, the momentum shifted in the Hilltoppers favor, as junior transfer student Alex Watt pelted a ball in the back of the net off a slick on-target pass from teammate Zachary Forehand to tie the match,1-1 

• Davis and Elkins managed a last-minute goal in the 88th minute when Senator defender Santiago Maiolo shot made it past goalkeeper Colton Callen
