Hilltoppers Fall at Concord in Wednesday Match

ATHENS, W.Va. - Concord University defeated West Liberty this afternoon in Mountain East Conference action in Athens, West Virginia. The Hilltoppers attempted 3 on-target shots on the day and the Mountain Lions scored 3 second half goals to take the match, 4-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • The Hilltoppers were on the attack early on with Linus Ebet driving a shot-on-target towards the net, but Mountain Lion goalkeeper Nathan Scargill made an impressive save to keep the match scoreless in the 14th minute of the first half 

  • The Mountain Lions followed with an on-target attempt in the 23rd minute of the first half but Hilltopper goalkeeper Colton Callen halted that attempt 

  • Concord's next shot-on target was saved by Callen again, but the Mountain Lions connected on their third attempt claiming a 1-0 lead in the 37th minute of the first half 

  • Concord threatened early in the second half netting their second goal in the 56th minute 

  • Seconds late Cormac McGinley quickly made a shot-on-goal attempt, but was saved by the Mountain Lion goalkeeper 

  • Aidan Harvey looked to get the Hilltoppers on the scoreboard in the 71st minute with his first shot-on-goal attempt of the season but was saved by the Mountain Lions goalkeeper Nathan Scargill

  • The Mountain Lions netted two more goals in the 73rd and 77th minute, winning the match, 4-0
