Wheeling,W.Va. - Four different Toppers scored in the West Liberty University men's soccer team's 5-1 win over Wheeling University. Trailing 1-0 in the first half, Alex Watt scored his third goal of the season in the 30th minute to tie the game, the teams would go to halftime with the score even. In the 48th minute Oskar Voges scored his first goal of the season to give the Toppers the lead 2-1.
Zachary Jordan would put his first of the season home in the 57th minute for a 3-1 West Liberty advantage. An own goal by the Cardinals in the 69th minute put the Toppers up 4-1. Barney Cowan would close the scoring with his first of the season in the 74th minute to make it a 5-1 game.
West Liberty dominated the flow of play and finished with nine shots on goal while limiting the Cardinals to only one. Zachary Jordan and Zachary Forehand led West Liberty each with two shots on goal.
Barney Cowan, Zachary Forehand, and Tim Stickland each had one assist in the game.
The Hilltoppers are now 3-4-1 overall and 1-4 in Mountain East Conference play. They return home to host Charleston Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the West Family Athletic Complex.
