Greensburg, Pa. – The West Liberty University women's golf team ended the opening day of the MEC Spring Classic in a tie for fourth place, as they turned in a score of 362 (+82) to match Notre Dame on Monday. A trio of Hilltoppers currently stand inside the top-25 of the player leaderboard at the Hannastown Country Club, led by Erin Shockey and Alexis Ramby who are tied for 22^nd and Sara Simon who is close behind and tied for 25^th place.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Erin Shockey and Alexis Ramby led the way for West Liberty in round one as they each carded a team-low of 88 (+18) for a tie for 22^nd place. The duo each posted scores of par on five holes during the day.
• Sara Simon is close behind the lead pair as she is just one shot behind with a day one score of 89 (+19) for a tie for 25^th place, which is one shot better than her season scoring average. Simon also added scores of par on five of the 18 holes at the Hannastown Golf Club.
•  Payton Sherry scored seven strokes better than her season average with a first round of 97 (+27) for 33^rd place in the MEC Spring Classic. Sherry scored par on three holes during the opening round.
• Anna Griffith rounded out the Hilltopper team lineup in 39^th place with a first round score of 126 (+56) in the 36-hole tournament.
