Greensburg, Pa. – The West Liberty University women's golf team ended the opening day of the MEC Spring Classic in a tie for fourth place, as they turned in a score of 362 (+82) to match Notre Dame on Monday. A trio of Hilltoppers currently stand inside the top-25 of the player leaderboard at the Hannastown Country Club, led by
Erin Shockey and
Alexis Ramby who are tied for 22
nd and
Sara Simon who is close behind and tied for 25
th place.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Erin Shockey and Alexis Ramby led the way for West Liberty in round one as they each carded a team-low of 88 (+18) for a tie for 22nd place. The duo each posted scores of par on five holes during the day.
- Sara Simon is close behind the lead pair as she is just one shot behind with a day one score of 89 (+19) for a tie for 25th place, which is one shot better than her season scoring average. Simon also added scores of par on five of the 18 holes at the Hannastown Golf Club.
- Â Payton Sherry scored seven strokes better than her season average with a first round of 97 (+27) for 33rd place in the MEC Spring Classic. Sherry scored par on three holes during the opening round.
- Anna Griffith rounded out the Hilltopper team lineup in 39th place with a first round score of 126 (+56) in the 36-hole tournament.
