3/27/2024 2:55:00 PM

Manheim, Pa. – West Liberty University's Ty McGeary adds another honor to his growing list of accolades during his time on the hilltop as the National Wrestling Coaches' Association (NWCA) announced the selections of NCAA Division II Men's Super Region Wrestler of the Year award winners on Wednesday afternoon. McGeary, who secured his second consecutive national title at 184 pounds just a little over a week ago, is the recipient from Super Region 3.

Finishing the season on top of the podium in Park City, Kansas, on March 16, McGeary was one of just three 2024 national champions to complete an undefeated season as he went 33-0 during the year. The senior from West Allegheny, Pennsylvania, rolled through the championship bracket as he recorded a major decision in three of his four bouts, and posted victories over three nationally ranked opponents. Against NCAA Division II competition during the duration of the season he tallied a total of 24 bonus point victories to finish second in the Most Dominant standings and was eighth among the Falls leaders with ten victories ending by way of a pin.

Being named the Super Region 3 Wrestler of the Year makes McGeary a finalist, along with the other five regional wrestler of the year winners, for the NCAA Division II National Wrestler of the Year award which will be voted on by the coaches and announced next week.
